Course Description

This course is intended to provide solutions architects with the foundational knowledge required to successfully plan and perform "lift and shift" migrations to the AWS Cloud. You will learn about methodologies for discovering, planning, performing, and tracking migrations by using various AWS tools and services. The curriculum focuses on the "Rehost" strategy, allowing organizations to move their existing on-premises servers directly to the cloud with minimal changes, ensuring a faster migration path.

Who is this course for

This course is intended for a technical audience—specifically solutions architects, developers, and administrators—who have limited to no prior experience with cloud migration but are tasked with moving their organization's first workloads to AWS.

Course Objectives

  • Readiness Assessment: Determine cloud readiness and identify appropriate migration strategies using AWS assessment tools.

  • Migration Mobilization: Articulate the key tasks involved in the planning and mobilization phases of a migration project.

  • Data Migration: Describe, at a high level, the services and resources necessary for migrating databases and bulk data.

  • Application Migration: Describe the AWS-native tools available for moving application servers and workloads securely.

  • Tracking & Management: Understand how to track migration progress using centralized AWS migration management tools.

Prerequisites

  • Required: Completion of AWS Technical Essentials.
